School students consider university pathways
Published on 05 April, 2005
More than 120 Year 12 school students throughout the Mackay district visited CQU Mackay recently to gain an insight into university life.
With the end of the first term for most school students, the choice about deciding their future for many Year 12 students draws closer. The school tours to CQU Mackay introduce students to the University and its facilities and staff.
The program highlights were the multimedia showreel, a tour and performance from the CQCM students, a library tour and faculty program talks. Among the schools that attended CQU Mackay this week were Mackay Christian College, Whitsunday Anglican School and Mirani State High School.
“It is important for senior students to be given the opportunity to have access to information regarding their future options, ” said Robyn Bailey, Intake Officer at CQU Mackay.
“There was lots of enthusiasm and students enjoyed the day immensely.".
“Some of our students are looking at tertiary studies. This tour provides students with further options that they may not have considered previously. It’s certainly a worthwhile experience,” said Pam Tindall, Seniors Coordinator, Whitsunday Anglican School.
