This years Brainwaves Festival provided a range of activities centred around the National Science Week themes of Sport, Space & the Environment according to CQU Bundaberg Faculty of Arts Health & Sciences Sub-Dean , Desirae Kirby.

In true Olympian style, students learned about the human machine and muscles athletes use for a given sport fromCQU's Sandy Dalton whose father, Peter Hanlin, represented Australia in shot-put at the 1956 Olympics.

Students used air and water powered rockets to compete in a Launch Olympiad, conducted by staff from the Faculty of Informatics & Communication.

"The response from the schools has been extremely positive. We've had phone calls from them thanking us for the day," Ms Kirby said.
