Central Queensland University engineering students were given the opportunity to showcase their talents at this years Graduating Engineers Conference, GECon 2007, held on Friday 22^nd June at CQU Rockhampton.

The conference, held for the fifth time this year, allowed students to present their final year projects to peers, industry employers and the wider Central Queensland community.

Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering & Health at CQU, Professor Elizabeth Taylor AO said that the event effectively brought together teaching and learning, research and community.

"The Graduating Engineers Conference focuses on excellence in engineering, and the presentations at this year's event are the result of the teaching done by CQU staff, the learning done by our students, and the results of intense research that has real, meaningful applications for the community, now and into the future."

Professor Taylor also noted the exceptional employment rates amongst the graduating engineering students.

"Majority of the twenty-six students about to graduate have secured full-time employment. The standard of the student presentations is a reflection of the quality of the engineering graduates that CQU is producing and their employability within industry"

After the Poster Exhibition, conference delegates attended a dinner at the Rockhampton Heritage Village to close the conference.
