Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU academic heads Queensland Nurse Leaders 

Congratulations to CQU academic John Kemsley, who has recently been appointed as president of the Association of Queensland Nurse Leaders (AQNL).

Based at Noosa Hub, Mr Kemsley is also the new Head of the CQU's Department of Health Innovation.

The Association of Queensland Nurse Leaders aims to provide leadership to the profession in the pursuit of excellence in healthcare, in a dynamic and complex environment. Objectives include:.

Provision of professional development activities for the members.

Provision of a forum to influence health policy.

Enhancement of the professional status of nursing.

Facilitation of professional development, support and communication network.

As well as his new role with the AQNL, Mr Kemsley is a Board Member and Fellow of the The College of Nursing, an Associate Fellow with the Australian College of Health Service Executives, and a Member of The Royal College of Nursing Australia.
