Conservatorium 'in tune' with Drink Rite program

CQUniversity Mackay is set to host a Drink Rite program, designed by the Queensland Police Service to promote a responsible attitude towards alcohol consumption and drink driving.

The Drink Rite event will be held at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM) on campus this Friday evening (June 10, 6pm-8pm).

Participating students have been planning a dress-up theme around the letter 'P'.

Drink Rite objectives include:

  • Raise awareness of:
    • the link between consumption of alcohol of different strengths and breath alcohol concentration;
    • what constitutes a standard drink; and
    • the links between alcohol consumption and alcohol-related harms including violence and accidents.
  • Provide information on the range of factors that affect an individual's breath alcohol concentration.
  • Promote the knowledge of standard drinks as a means of monitoring alcohol consumption and an individual's approximate breath alcohol concentration.
  • Provide licensees and their staff with an opportunity to increase their patron's awareness of responsible drinking.
