Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Sunny Sarah's purple patch in Emerald 

CQU Emerald's second-year Bachelor of Learning Management student Sarah Dennis has continued a purple patch of recognition by receiving the QCWA Central Highlands Division Annual Bursary.

A morning tea was held recently at CQU Emerald so QCWA representatives could hand over $500 toward's Sarah's university studies.

The bursary selection is based on academic performance and a submitted statement by applicants.

The bursary presentation followed hot on the heels of Sarah's crowning as Sunflower Festival Charity Queen.Proudly supported by the Emerald Campus, Sarah raised over $10,000 for the Central Highlands Science Centre. With trivia nights, movie premieres, memorabilia auctions, raffles and alike, Sarah and her support team at CQU were kept very busy raising as much money as possible for much needed resources for the Science Centre.
