Book enthusiasts head to Byfield

Local Capricorn writers will hold a ‘Book' Picnic in conjunction with the Byfield Markets on Sunday morning (May 31).

Many local authors will bring their publications along.

The Capricorn Coast Historical Society, which is compiling a series of short Yeppoon histories to celebrate Q150, will have its first book ready for the market.

CQUniversity Press will have Colin McPherson's latest novel The Boatbuilder's Nose also on sale.

Popular local author Mark Svendsen will discuss writing for young people. Mark has recently published Kestrel (in memory of much-loved regional poet and academic, Val Vallis).

Bush poet Bob Pacey will entertain with his latest bush poetry book which realistically features a corrugated iron cover, and Jan Schwarzrock is bringing her life-writing books along, including Looking Back.

Laurie Conlan has created a Writers' Tree covered with prose for the occasion.  Many writers are already selling their work through Loryn Galeo's shop - the Byfield Bazaar.

Picnic organisers hope to see many of their recent workshop colleagues from the North Keppel Island retreat, organised via the University's Idiom 23 Magazine.

All aspiring authors and poets are invited to come along.
