Mackay helps students stay in 'the zone'
Published on 28 August, 2008
Mackay Campus has overcome the setback of flooded carpeting earlier this year to create a fresh and funky Library reading and relaxation area - now known as 'The Zone'.
Artwork for the walls and floor was provided by Master of Contemporary Arts students and staff from the University of Tasmania, who are using Mackay Campus as a base.
The Zone was the venue for a recent 'Campus Connections' session, giving students a forum to connect with others studying the same course, and also an opportunity to get to know some of the Uni staff.

Mackay Campus Library Manager Pauline McNee and Campus Counsellor Alicia Davenport were among those leading the spruce-up and connections session.
"We are delighted that this will provide a forum for flex students in particular to meet with other students and staff on a regular basis so that they don't feel isolated with their Uni study," Ms McNee said. "Fulltime students are also very welcome to attend and some did last Tuesday."
"Remaining connected with the needs of our diverse student population continues to be a priority for the Library staff."
Ms McNee said future Campus Connections sessions will be held in The Zone this term on September 23, October 7, November 11 and December 9, from 10.30am-12.30am. [Free tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. CLC Express and the MLC will be available.]
Meanwhile, the Library staff - Pauline, John, Andrea and Erin - will be resuming the ASK A LIBRARIAN sessions this term.

In other news, the Library Society held its annual book sale recently and once again raised sufficient funds to purchase additional resources for the Library.
