Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Career and study advice at your finger tips 

Finding a career or even knowing what you want to do is not an easy task and certainly not something you are expected to navigate on your own.

CQU offers a range of resources and guidance to assist you in your career search and initial employment process through its Careers and Employment Service.

The University’s career counsellors and advisors are available to assist you to make realistic career decisions in relation to occupational and program choices available at CQU.

By attending a careers information session at Open Day on Sunday you will be guided through an introduction to career planning; complete a practical career assessment test and link the outcome of your career assessment test to CQU programs and discuss future employment options.

Career planning will take place at the Harvard Lecture. Here students will be able to consider self assessment, employment opportunities, decision making and action planning.

Online Career Assessments will take place in the Library Training Room. Here you will students will go online to complete career assessments, search career choices and link back to the CQU handbook for suitable programs.

An Enrolling at CQU session will also be staged in the Harvard Lecture Theatre at 2 pm. This session is aimed at prospective students of any age and their parents and will cover application, finance and academic requirements to enrol at CQU.
