Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Mackay gets a taste of opera 

CQUniversity Mackay's Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music is presenting England's first ever opera, Dido and Aeneas, from 1pm and 8pm on Friday, September 18.

Written 320 years ago by Henry Purcell, the work will be presented in concert by the Bachelor of Music and some Bachelor of Theatre students.

"It's a great chance to hear the Con's harpsichord and orchestra, and to experience some early music in Mackay," says music lecturer Kim Kirkman.

"The audience will be provided with the complete libretto so they can keep up with the story. The whole work is like a mini-opera in that it takes just one hour."
