Leadership awards feature of CQU Melbourne graduation

Two undergraduate students have been honoured with Campus Director’s Leadership Awards at CQU Melbourne’s September graduation ceremony.

Pradosh Kumar Sinha (pictured right) has received outstanding results including 12 distinctions and two high distinctions as part of his Bachelor of Information Technology. He has also been recognised for his leadership skills and for providing guidance to other students.

PhotoID:2308 Pradosh’s success comes despite ongoing effects from a corneal transplant in 2002. He has overcome difficulties after follow-up procedures and has dealt with constant reading limitations.

Having worked in multimedia and as an animation/photoshop teacher at a private institution in India, Pradosh came to Australia in 2000. He completed his Diploma of Multimedia at Victoria University before joining CQU.

He now plans to continue his studies with a Diploma of Games Development at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment. In particular, Pradosh is passionate about 3D animation and modelling and has several secret ideas for Australian styled video games. Pradosh is very settled with many friends in Melbourne and now hopes to become a permanent resident.

He Tianmin (Peter), pictured left, was nominated for the award based on the exceptional commitment he has shown throughout his Bachelor of Information Technology.

Peter initially joined CQU on the Student Monitoring program, having scored lower than the required standard on his English Language test. Through hard work, dedication and with assistance from the Learning Skills Unit, he developed his language and study skills to finish his program with excellent grades.

PhotoID:2309 Peter attributes much of his success to the fact he became a Christian soon after arriving in Australia. He says the support he receives from the family he lives with combined with strength from prayer has helped him to perform at his best.

The key advice Peter recommends for overcoming academic challenges is to aim high and develop good organisational skills. He is now furthering his studies with a Masters of Internet and Web Computing at RMIT.
