Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Learning and Teaching event attracts 200 attendances 

Organisers of CQU's recent Learning and Teaching Showcase have proclaimed the event a success, with more than 200 attendances at sessions across the 3 days.

The Showcase included:.

Twenty different speakers.

Five visiting special guest speakers, including the Executive Director of the Carrick Institute.

One panel discussion/forum with members of the CQU Senior Executive directly involved with Learning and Teaching at CQU.

One REACT interactive writers’ workshop.

For the first time, all sessions were streamed live to CQU staff via their desktop computers (over 100 hours was recorded).

One evening reception in Gladstone; this was attended by over 63 CQU staff and community members.

The launching of a new edited publication with chapters by CQU staff - 'Doctrina Perpetua'.

An announcement of the new DVD for Flex Students – Finding your way at CQU.
