She was among 3 finalists in the Awards category for Undergraduate Students - Information and Communication Technology and received a Highly Commended result. The website she built & designed can be found at: http://digital-expo.tripod.com/ .

Kathleen attributes her experiences during her STEPS (Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies) program for inspiring her study pathway.

"One of the many people that addressed our STEPS groups was lecturer Dr Grayson Cooke. Grayson's passionate talk was on the wonderful world of animation.

"I had in the past toyed with some ideas for animated stories, but had no idea how these ideas might come to fruition. After listening to Grayson I knew the answer ... and I also knew that the chance hearing of the STEPS program had led me to finding this path."

Kathleen has recently been contracted to develop a website for the 'Continuing to Coast into Robotics' project, starting in early November.

"I have for some years been thinking of an animated book, and now that I am becoming more confident with the softwares and programming I feel I should actually get that project up and running," she said.

"I also have an idea for a home-based business, which will hopefully create an advertising niche for professional people, especially those that have CQUniversity qualifications.

"The 'ex-STEPS' people would be encouraged to investigate this unique opportunity, however this particular venture must wait until I finish my degree in 2009."

While continuing her journey in computing, Kathleen maintains her interest in photography and also ensures she gets time for walking.

"Every chance I get I take the dog and the camera and go off, usually to Moore Park beach, and walk the dog."
