Danaher helps trace Mt Chalmers' history
Published on 03 December, 2008
CQUniversity's Dr Geoff Danaher will help members of the Mt Chalmers History Centre to write a history of their community, thanks to funding via the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF*).
The former gold mining area was once a thriving hub with hotels, a hospital, retail outlets and other facilities.
Dr Danaher's previous projects have included histories of the Keppel Bay Sailing Club and the city of Mackay.
The History Centre, located on the former Mt Chalmers State School grounds, is open to the public from 11am to 2pm the first Sunday of every month.
Those who can help with information on the history of Mt Chalmers can contact the History Centre at mtchalmershistory@cqnet.com.au or by phoning 4934 4923.
* RADF supports the professional development and employment of arts and cultural workers and is a joint initiative of Arts Queensland and the Rockhampton Regional Council.
