Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Emerald aisles packed for awards 

CQU Emerald Academic Awards are hosted annually to acknowledge the outstanding academic achievements of CQU students as well as thanking the local businesses that generously sponsor these awards.

Special guests who came from Rockhampton for the evening were Professor John Rolfe from the Faculty of Business & Informatics and Bill Blayney and Pat Moran from the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education.

Campus Coordinator, Gai Sypher, spoke about CQU Emerald Campus' goals for 2008 which include fostering new incentives such as the introduction of a new mode of delivery for the Accounting degree and the possibility of postgraduate engineering courses, along with the current program offerings.

Mrs Heather Gillies, from Clermont, entertained the audience throughout the evening with a melody of songs selected from popular musicals.
