Mackay students awarded bursaries

A CQU Mackay Faculty of Informatics and Communication student has been awarded a $5000 scholarship.
Peter Vella, a first-year student studying the Bachelor Information Technology degree at CQU Mackay, was awarded the Professor John D. Smith Undergraduate Memorial Bursary for his outstanding achievements in the area of computing and information technology.
The Professor John D. Smith Scholarship was established in memory of the Foundation Professor of Computing at CQU.
“I will be using the scholarship money to assist in paying part of my degree fees up front,” Mr Vella said.
Mr Vella was congratulated by Professor Phillip Clift, Head of CQU Mackay, and Ashley Holmes, Sub-Dean, Faculty of Informatics and Communication.
John Carroll, a second-year Bachelor of Information Technology student, was also successful in securing a $2000 Continuing Scholarships bursary.
