Sydney Orientation covers all the bases

Students of CQU Sydney International Campus were treated to a very informative and successful Orientation program to launch the second term of 2006.

Undergraduate and postgraduate students from all backgrounds received information in areas ranging from academic issues to personal safety and including how to make their stay in Australia more enjoyable.

This set the motion the rest of the Orientation program, with students from an array of programs ranging from Accounting to Information Technology filling up lecture rooms.

There were plenty of guest speakers from a variety of areas both on and off the campus providing the necessary information to help students with their studies.

Kim Hwang of CPA gave a thorough talk to the Accounting students on accreditation and opportunities offered through the CPA program.

Teaching and Learning coordinator Professor Ross Lehman entertained the students on student ethics and values.

Daniel Burt, the CQU IT Manager, informed students about the rules pertaining to use of IT facilities and their computer accounts at the Sydney campus.

Other speakers included Constable Ben Purvis of NSW Police, talking on safety and well being outside the campus, Barry Wong from the Australian Computer Society and representatives from the Office of Industrial Relations on employment rights of students.
