Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Mackay students get set for Uni 

Around 400 new students at CQU Mackay campus will kick off their year of study with the “Gone Troppo” Orientation program.

PhotoID:1793 The four-day program highlights include assignment writing, referencing, study for success and online computer sessions. There will also be fun-filled activities such as a live band, Pub Trivia Challenge, Warm-up party, and a wind down at Airlie Beach to finish.

“The program is designed to introduce new students to university and prepare them for studying in a great learning environment.

“Student mentors will guide new students to a smooth transition into university life,” Campus Support Officer Jocelyn Wood said.
