Rockhampton accounting student wins paid work placement

Central Queensland University’s Jennifer Cooper has been identified in the top 11 Queensland accounting students from the applicants that applied for the CA Achiever program for 2003.

PhotoID:1078 The CA Achiever program, offered by the Institute for Chartered Accountants, recognises the top 11 first-year Queensland accounting students each year, rewarding them with four weeks' paid work experience with an accounting firm.

Ms Cooper, the only successful applicant to attend university outside of a metropolitan area, will be placed with Rockhampton firm Evans, Edwards and Associates from January.

ICAA Queensland Manager Simon Grant said the CA Achiever program recognised future outstanding talent within the accounting industry.

“Chartered Accounting offers an extremely rewarding career path and our winners should feel extremely proud of their achievement,” Mr Grant said.

CA Achiever Jennifer Cooper said the program would be valuable experience, preparing her for her future accounting career.

“It’s great that a firm from Rockhampton is involved in the program. I really have them to thank for offering this opportunity to accounting students,” Ms Cooper said.

“It will allow me to really experience first hand what it is like to work in an accounting firm.”
