Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Fledgling teachers scoop pool in national WebQuest competition 

Congratulations to the student teachers and a teaching graduate who have been enrolled in our Graduate Diploma of Learning & Teaching (GDLT) program and who have scooped the pool for the national WebQuest* Direct competition.

[*Teachers use WebQuests as building blocks to support pupils' internet exploration.]

GDLT program coordinator Rickie Fisher has congratulated Scot Aldred for his leadership within the (e-Learning) course to which the WebQuests are attached.

The national winners included:

1st Heidi James [Taranganba Primary] for her "To Dam or Not to Dam" WebQuest

2nd Faye Boustead [Frenchville Primary] for her "Hey... What's in the Ocean?"

3rd Stephen Hutchins [Blackall Range Independent School - Primary] for his "Beyond Beijing"

1st Emily Perkins [Secondary - School TBC] for her Discovering Shakespeare - A Classic Text for Performance Now

WebQuest winner hooked on classroom potential

The competition organisers have stated these are all exciting and intriguing WebQuests aimed at various grade levels. Along with cash prizes for these entrants, the nominated schools will receive a year's subscription to WebQuest Direct.
