Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Features of the event - at Rockhampton Campus from 10am-2pm- include a flight simulator, robotics, nursing labs, Bauhinia literary awards, the Opti-MINDS Challenge, a 10,000 STEPS course and a festival of short science films.

The grassed area behind the campus library is the central venue for face-painting, street performers and fun activities, as well as directions to key events. A variety of foods will be available on campus.

Open Day highlights

Meanwhile, the Office of Development and Graduate Relations is arranging a display of community engagement activities and a Graduate Lounge, for former students to catch up with staff and other graduates over tea or coffee.
