Gladstone library offers all learning tools in one location

Staff and students at CQU Gladstone are enjoying the benefits of the recently-completed renovations to the Cyril Golding Library.

Campus Librarian, Karin Simon, said although staff were still waiting on some items of furniture, they were already getting positive feedback about the new services and modern look.

PhotoID:2805 “With the completion of the renovations our students now have all their learning tools in the one place; they also have a really modern and comfortable environment in which to study,” said Mrs Simon.

The additions to the library include a 25-seat computer lab where students can complete their assignments, browse the on-line catalogue, research through the Internet and even burn data to CDs or watch DVDs.

Students will also be able to make coloured photocopies in A4 and A3 on the new photocopier, and they can study in specially equipped group work areas. In the near future, students will also be able to video conference to lecturers from the library.

“The library is now designed and fully equipped to foster the students’ group work culture,” said Mrs Simon.

PhotoID:2806 Bachelor of Learning Management student, Rebecca Marshall said she was impressed with the renovations.

“I spend a lot of time in the library and it is great to see all the new changes. It will help to make study a little more enjoyable,” said Ms Marshall.
