Central Queensland University Gladstone recently played host to visitors from Brazil and Mexico as part of an initiative to promote regional universities to Latin American students.
Eduardo Heidemann from Brazil and Catherine Ausman Torres from Mexico were in Gladstone this week as part of their tour of regional universities.
CQU Gladstone Head of Campus, Associate Professor Bob Prater said the visit was part of an initiative of the Queensland Government to promote opportunities with regional universities.
“Last year, the Office of Higher Education, Department of Education arranged a visit for Queensland university staff to Latin America and this visit was a follow up to that.
“Eduardo and Catherine spent time in Gladstone and Rockhampton to meet with faculty staff and become familiar with our facilities, location and the programs that we can offer to Latin American students,” said Mr Prater.
Mr Prater said the group were particularly keen to explore educational opportunities that linked with industry in Gladstone.
“They were also very interested in the availability of internships and our range of undergraduate and postgraduate study programs at the Gladstone campus,” said Mr Prater.
