Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Gerda celebrates 15 years at CQU 

Central Queensland University recently recognised Gladstone staff member, Gerda Whiteley’s 15 years of employment with a medal presentation.

PhotoID:1619 Gerda, a course and administration officer at CQU Gladstone started out as a bookshop supervisor and administration staff member in 1989.

Gladstone head of campus, Associate Professor Robert Prater said Gerda had witnessed a lot of changes during her time at CQU.

“Having been with us for 15 years she has seen the campus grow from a single building in Dawson Road to the significant marina campus it is today and she has been a part of the expansion of course offerings and student numbers.

“While with us she has also completed a Bachelor of Arts degree and had a role as a part-time lecturer for STEPS.

“Gerda has always played a significant role in key campus activities and is a valued member of our team,” said Mr Prater.
