Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Fresh face for Careers Expo in Rockhampton this August 

Rockhampton has a fresh, new training and employment event under the Capricorn Careers Expo banner, scheduled for Tuesday August 2 at the CQUniversity Community Sports Centre.

Organisers have revamped the former careers, training and employment expo which has previously attracted around 80 exhibitors and students from 25 schools, university and TAFE as well as job seekers.

The Capricorn Careers Expo aims to expand its reach to attract even more participating exhibitors, students, career changers and job seekers from Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Emu Park, Mount Morgan, Baralaba, Blackwater, Moura and Theodore.

The new Expo will feature a range of integrated activities and initiatives, including Try A Trade, Try A Skill; competitions, special spaces for recruitment, interviews and networking; and a free exhibitor networking function.
