New Sydney Campus director sees dual location as asset

Central Queensland University’s commitment to growth in international students has been reaffirmed with the recent appointment of Barbara Abou-Lehaf as Campus Director Sydney.

Ms Abou-Lehaf has come on board during a transition phase, involving the establishment of a new postgraduate campus building (also in Kent Street).

“This is the best job I’ve ever held. I enjoy coming to work everyday and I value the social interaction with staff and students. I get the feeling the staff on campus also enjoy coming to work. This is important as the time we spend at work is such a major part of our lives.”.

Teamwork, a great working environment and a strong customer focus creates growth, believes Ms Abou-Lehaf.

“People contributing to and being involved in the organisation provides a sense of purpose. There are many opportunities for staff where there is growth. People like to work in a successful organisation ... they feel they have contributed to and are part of that success.” .

Ms Abou-Lehaf also believes that students recognise the differentiating factors of the international campuses which are fundamental to the growth and success of CQU Sydney.

PhotoID:2032 “The new postgraduate building will offer our students a campus specifically designed for them and their needs," she said.

"This dual model campus will differentiate us from other institutions and students will recognise this.".

Ms Abou-Lehaf is now looking forward to the challenges which lie ahead and is “happy for the opportunity to move to Sydney and experience working with staff on a dual campus model".

Ultimately her vision for CQU Sydney is for it to be known internationally as the best experience for students as a place to study.
