Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Over 400 Central Queensland University students and graduates joined the CQU Golden Key Chapter for the 2007 Induction recently.

Over 50 students attended the New Member Ceremony on Rockhampton Campus, one student traveling from as far as Sydney for the event.

Professor Kevin Tickle, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean, Faculty of Business and Informatics, and CQU Golden Key Honorary Member, was the ceremony's keynote speaker, while Constance Moore, CQU Golden Key Chapter President, was the MC for the evening.

The Golden Key Society is an internationally recognised, non-profit organization with about 350 chapters across the globe.

Ms Moore said Golden Key invites the top 15% of university students to become members of the society.

Golden Key International Honour Society celebrates 30 years of operation this year.

The CQU Chapter was awarded GOLD Standing in the Golden Key Society at this year's International Conference, in Atlanta, Georgia. Constance Moore attended the International Conference, representing the CQU Chapter.
