Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Journalism tutor explains 'Melanesian messages' to Radio National audience 

CQU journalism tutor and guest lecturer Carole Colville this week spoke to Radio National's Perspective program about why Australians have trouble understanding the cultural messages underlying the case of the Solomon Islands' now-suspended Attorney General Julian Moti.

Ms Colville, the former editor of a Solomon Islands newspaper, speaks about the Moti affair and recent riots in an ABC transcript and audio copies available at:.

Ms Colville, who is also a former TV New Zealand journalist, tutors CQU flex students enrolled in 'Reporting the Asia Pacific' and also delivered a guest lecture via podcast this year. She is now based in Bundaberg.
