Organic food will be the topic of a free public presentation by CQUniversity's Associate Professor Stewart Lockie on Thursday September 25 from 6pm to 7pm at the Ginger Mule Tapas Bar, at 8 William Street Rockhampton.

Assoc. Professor Lockie will give you the science behind the growing organic food industry, discussing whether the food is safer, more nutritious or better for the environment and whether it is worth the money.

Certified organic food is one of the fastest growing sectors of the food industry and the research tells us that about 40% of Australian consumers claim to purchase organic food, at least occasionally, despite an average retail price premium of 80%.

This presentation will review the scientific evidence for certified organic foods in relation to food safety, nutritional content and environmental protection.

The presentation is part of CQUniversity's Healthy Communities Research Unplugged sessions.
