University librarians meet in Rockhampton

Central Queensland University Library hosted a meeting of university librarians representing the Queensland University Libraries Office of Cooperation in Rockhampton today, November 28.

Queensland University Libraries Office of Cooperation (QULOC) is a collaborative organisation which provides a framework for information exchange, best practice development, cooperative activities and the promotion of common interests which support the teaching, learning and research needs of member institutions.

Membership comprises 12 university libraries from Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory, plus the State Library of Queensland.

Director of CQU’s Division of Library Services Margaret Appleton believes university libraries are facing many challenges and are dealing with a variety of issues, both individually and collectively.

“Through the QULOC, libraries are better able to manage their financial concerns, technological infrastructure and changing customer demands,” Ms Appleton said.

Through collaboration, university libraries which are members of QULOC share resources and provide high quality library services for their staff and students.

Visiting librarians came from University of Queensland, QUT, Griffith University, Bond University, Southern Cross University, University of the Sunshine Coast, Australian Catholic University, James Cook University, University of New England and University of Southern Queensland.
