Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Alumni meet in Rocky 

CQU Alumni held a function in Rockhampton this week to discuss re-establishing a Central Queensland Alumni chapter.

About 15 CQU graduates attended the meeting which was hosted by University Relations Officer Tony Gubbins and Alumni volunteer Veronica Rickard.

PhotoID:2143 During the meeting Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard gave a brief overview of the alumni and Mr Gubbins talked about his vision for a new and revitalised alumni chapter in Central Queensland.

“Alumni who attended the function were enthusiastic about setting up a chapter and will continue to meet and arrange functions during 2005 open to all CQU alumni,” Mr Gubbins explained.
