Former ABC presenter to compere the Fair

Long-time advocate for the Multicultural Fair and ex- ABC radio announcer David Anderson will compere the official proceedings and main stage entertainment at this year's CQU Multicultural Fair and Open Day.

Mr Anderson has been associated with the Multicultural Fair since CQU began coordinating the event 15 years ago.

Mr Anderson said he was proud to be involved with such a successful community event and enjoyed compering the Multicultural Fair.

"Having spent 30 years with microphones, principally unobserved in radio studios, outdoor event compering gives me an opportunity to interact with an audience.

"I have long been a fan of the University's approach to sharing its work, atmosphere and grounds with the people of Central Queensland. I believe CQU was one of the pioneers in opening its grounds to the general public and relegating what was perceived as ‘stuffy academica'."

A supporter of multiculturalism, Mr Anderson believes it is important to acknowledge the contributions made to our community by people who don't call Australia their Motherland.

"They all have interesting stories to tell us about their homelands, their cultures, their arts and crafts, their history, their joys and tragedies."
