It turns out that Hope is Billy's long‑lost love and he desperately searches to win her back. Unfortunately, she is now engaged to a wealthy Englishman, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. The show tells the age-old tale of boy-meets-girl, and the complications that ensue will intrigue every audience.

CQUniversity's Head of School of Creative and Performing Arts Dr Donna Brien said the University regularly employs industry professionals to mentor its students and direct its major productions.

"Throughout the Conservatorium's history, our students and staff, and the productions they stage, have benefited from the energy and expertise of the visiting directors who work with us to present these world-standard productions to our audiences.

"Our Mackay students participate in two full-scale main stage productions each year under the close mentorship of a professional director and our dedicated academic staff, each of whom also has considerable experience as a professional performer."

Anything Goes has been directed and choreographed by Thern Reynolds, an Australian entertainment professional who has worked on the small and big screen as well as on stage.

He has also had international success as the starring role of Cherries Man for the European Tour of Broadway hit musical FOSSE, followed by the lead role in Mind the Gap and later Chicago.

Since returning to Australia in 2004, Thern has played Joseph in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - his most loved role to date. He has also worked on the films Moulin Rouge and De-Lovely, the Cole Porter story, and has numerous television credits including the Logies, People's Choice Awards, The Midday Show and Hey Hey It's Saturday. He has also danced with recording artists Kylie Minogue, Christine Anu, Tom Jones and Kate Ceberano. Full biography is available here.

Thern will be supported by CQUniversity's Garrick Jones and Kim Kirkman as artistic and music director respectively.
