Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Four CQU staff nominated for ICT awards 

Four Rockhampton-based CQU staff members are nominated for this month\'s inaugural Australian Computer Society (ACS) Queensland ICT Professionals of the Year awards.

The awards, co-sponsored by CQU, will be announced at a gala dinner in Brisbane on November 23.

Nominees in the Queensland ICT Professional of the Year (Education) category include:.

Dean of Informatics & Communication Associate Professor Kevin Tickle.

InfoCom Associate Dean Teaching and Learning Dr Elizabeth Tansley.

Health Informatics Professor Evelyn Hovenga (who is also Chair of the ACS HI Committee).

Meanwhile, Faculty of Business & Law network administrator Arthur Cleary is nominated in the Queensland ICT Professional of the Year (Business) category.

CQU\'s strong presence in the awards is a reflection of its status as Australia\'s largest provider of ICT education, with around 5000 ICT enrolments (full-time equivalent).
