10th anniversary celebration for student mentors at CQU Bundaberg

Mentors of CQU Bundaberg attended a dinner last week for a presentation and 10th anniversary celebration of the Student Mentor and Leadership Program.
The Student Mentor & Leadership Program assists new students to quickly feel at home at CQU and provides support during their first year of tertiary studies.
Student mentors are students who have \'been there\' and survived, as well as having acquired a great deal of information about the tertiary education environment and how the \'system\' works.
“The mentors are an exceptional group of people. They are very proactive and willing to help out with not only the students they are mentoring, but any events that the university is coordinating,” said Intake Officer Student Services, Ms Susan Praed.
Based on votes by their students, Sherry O’Brien and Kylie Amies were awarded with ‘Mentors of the Year’ for their outstanding mentoring during the year.
“The mentors of the year were 2 very worthy recipients who have done an outstanding job this year and the campus highly appreciates their valuable input,” said Acting Head of Campus, Dr Helen Huntly.
