Gladstone community discovers local campus

The Gladstone community came out in force recently to support the 2006 Multicultural Festival and Discover CQU Day.

After a hiatus in 2005, the Multicultural Festival returned this year thanks to the support of CQU, which helped sponsor the event. The Gladstone Campus also took the opportunity to hold an open day with campus tours, program advice, faculty displays and competitions being held throughout the day.

CQU Gladstone Acting Head of Campus, Dr Andrew Wallace, said the feedback from the community was extremely positive, with people enjoying the opportunity to learn more about CQU’s teaching and research activities, including the STEPS program.

"Since many are now familiar with the campus in a physical sense, our aim this year was to promote CQU as an intellectual resource for the community. A video was made to inform people about the work done in labs where public access was not feasible and we also showcased the research done by our teaching staff. All full-time teaching staff devoted a lot of time to make the day a success".
