Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

QCPD equips Council with professional development training 

Mackay Regional Council staff have attended the first of a series of tailored professional development workshops at CQUniversity, as part of Council's Organisational Development strategy.

Organised by the University's Queensland Centre for Professional Development (QCPD), approximately 100 employees including managers and coordinators, participated in the one-day Report Writing workshop this week.

The workshop was run by Val Cleary, Discipline Coordinator and Learning Advisor in the Academic Learning Centre at CQUniversity.

Mackay Regional Council staff will also attend a second series of workshops in July on Commercial Negotiation.

This workshop, to be run by CQUniversity's Professional Project Manager, lecturer and researcher Richard Egelstaff, is for senior employees involved in negotiating infrastructure agreements and contracts.

QCPD is a business centre of CQUniversity and was established to respond to the training, professional development and educational needs of industry.

The Centre provides education and training solutions, workforce development services, skills analysis and research linkages from Certificate One level to PhD, with a strong focus on industry engagement and partnerships
