Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Equity hosts grievance contact officer workshop

Margaret Culmsee, Manager Equity and Diversity, welcomed participants to the annual Grievance Contact Officer (GCO) Workshop, including 5 new GCOs.

GCOs are based at Rockhampton and each of the regional campuses, including for the first time, Emerald Campus.

Margaret Culmsee commented during the training that the GCOs complement existing HR and management structures.

The GCOs provide a first point of contact for students and staff who think they may have been subjected to workplace discrimination, sexual harassment or bullying.
