Students take hands-on approach to satirical comedy

Central Queensland University students are taking a hands-on approach with the production of a satirical comedy called 'December', at Rockhampton's Walter Reid Cultural Centre on Wednesday August 13.

'December' was written by Brisbane-based playwright Robert Kronk and is presented by The Capricornia Players and the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, under the supervision of lecturer Emma Killion.

However, Bachelor of Performing Arts students have carried out most other aspects of the production as part of their 'project' class.

'December' is produced by Elizabeth Strelow and Lyndal Phillips and includes appearances by Kendal Lane, James Zimmer, Anthony Doak, Glen Mallory, Francis Kilgannon, Nicole Sundstrum, James Zimmer and Emily Ahern. The director is BPA student Jamie Hennings, who was assistant director for Fame the Musical recently.

It is billed as a satirical comedy about youth, unemployment, political activism and two mates sitting around building a bomb.

Tickets for 7pm production are available at the door or via the CQU Student Association.

The BPA degree is offered by CQU's Faculty of Education and Creative Arts (via the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music).
