Education students enable artful tribute to child-friendly community

CQUniversity Gladstone's advanced learning management students have organised and created a Exhibition of Children's Art, helping kids to illustrate their vision for a child-friendly community.
The project was an assignment for their course on Advocacy,Leadership and Change in Early Childhood and also complemented the annual Communities for Children (C4C) Professional Forum being hosted at Gladstone Campus from May 27-29.
Lyn Hughes, from our School of Learning and Innovation, said the assignment gave students the chance to show they could work in teams to lift the profile of Early Education and Care.
"This year the small but dedicated group of students created a partnership with the organising commitee of the forum and Early Childhood settings and schools," Ms Hughes said.
"The students curated the work and tried to highlight the children's views to forum participants.
"The outcomes for the students not only included leadership roles in implementing change in Early Childhood but many generic skills were enhanced through this task such as communication, teamwork, strategic planning and following a project through to its completion."

Ms Hughes said the event was a comprehensive conference with a range of internationally and nationally renowned speakers.
"It was an interdisciplinary event aimed at everyone working with children aged from 0-12 years, in any capacity," she said.
