Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU engages with supporters in Rockhampton 

Central Queensland University's Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor recently hosted University supporters in Rockhampton, to discuss progress on a range of developments.

Updates included the organisational restructure, the trend towards cooperative (industry-relevant) education, the reinvigoration of courses, new research foci, and measures to attract additional international students to Rockhampton (as well as at other locations).

PhotoID:3711 During the evening, Chancellor Rennie Fritschy and Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard spoke about having closer links with our communities and the formation of networks and initiatives to support the sustainable economic, social and cultural life of our region.

They welcomed ideas from those present about how to improve our University for the benefit of our community.

In summing up, Professor Rickard said: “We will continue to remain very committed to our region, and will not move from this strong commitment".
