VC says 2011 'the year of CQUni Research'

An extract from the Vice-Chancellor's latest Renewal Update ...

"In the last Renewal Update we talked about research becoming more central to CQUniversity and the growing emphasis we need to place on our applied and pure research to achieve 'greatness' over the next decade or so.

"Like the investment and priority we have made and put into program/course development, we will make, starting now, a marked change in the way we conduct our research by engaging more effectively with our stakeholders, recruiting new individuals and research teams and reinvigorating areas where we know we are working to world standards but may be unnoticed.

"It's an aggressive plan. It has to be. There will be up to 10 new high-performing researchers. And they --- under the auspices and leadership of DVC Academic and Research Jennelle Kyd and PVC Research Chad Hewitt - will sharply enhance CQUniversity's research by acquiring more and higher-valued National Competitive Grants, publishing in A* and A journals, collaborating extensively with other universities and developing novel funding opportunities with stakeholders.

"So, whilst we maintain the momentum generated over the last 18 months in terms of new programs, courses and campus renewal we will now drive a parallel plan to reinstate and rejuvenate CQUniversity Research as we collectively pursue CQUniversity's Renewal".
