Dave Hogg from Dunedin NZ and Dave Golding from Yamba in NSW  (commonly known as 'the two Daves') are employed at Minera Yanacocha, a gold mine in Peru owned by the major multi-national Newmont mining company.

They have recently commenced studying the Maintenance Management (MM) program through CQUniversity Gladstone.

As a major international player in the mining industry, Newmont recognises that people are the most important resource. It provides employees with opportunities to collaborate, innovate and succeed in their careers.

The CQUniversity Maintenance Management program was chosen by the company in this instance, as it comes highly recommended by people in the mining industry throughout the world.

In Gladstone for their residential school associated with the program, the 2 Daves have stated that:

"So far the course has provided everything that you would expect from such an internationally renowned program. We already have a number of ideas and strategies that we can take back to the workplace that we expect will save our employer much more than the cost of providing us with this opportunity. The investment the company is making in the course is already paying off".

Both are keen to ensure that their skills are developed to an international standard and are looking forward to the rest of the course.

Both of the Daves are also impressed with the Port City, the University campus and the people they have met since arriving.
