Preparatory and degree students at Emerald Orientation

Central Queensland University's first-year Emerald students attended Orientation on Wednesday February 27 to get to know the campus and its staff before classes start on March 3.

Students studying the STEPS program, and those starting a Bachelor of Business/Accounting and a Bachelor of Learning Management attended the Orientation day.
To reduce the stress of commencing study on a university campus, Student Mentors are assigned to first-year students.
Mentors are second and third-year students who volunteer to assist first-years settle into university life.
Campus Coordinator Gai Sypher said that while degree numbers were down - part of a wider trend - the bridging program STEPS had an encouraging enrolment of 23 students.
Ms Sypher said that a high enrolment in the bridging program this year may reflect positively on next year's undergraduate intake.
