Immigration and Citizenship Minister Chris Bowen has officially opened the impressive new CQUniversity Brisbane Campus at 160 Ann Street, during an evening function for invited guests...
The University spent $6.5 million on a modern refurbishment of the Ann Street building, which provides almost three times the space of its former facility in Margaret Street.

The new campus is located in the busy city centre
This investment anticipates a forecast growth in student numbers and the addition of new degree programs, foundation programs and an English Language Centre later this year. It's part of a bigger picture too as CQUniversity rolls out over $50 million in capital works projects across its 10-campus network.
CQUniversity Brisbane now occupies the first eight floors of the 22-storey building and currently caters for more than 800 students, who moved into the new facility in late February.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Scott Bowman says CQUniversity has been a leader in international education for the past 20 years and has the highest proportion of international students among Australian universities.
"Historically, CQUniversity has been among the top universities in Australia servicing the international student market and we continue to be one of Australia's top universities for international enrolments," Professor Bowman said.
"Today our Brisbane Campus enjoys more than 810 mostly international students from 47 different countries, here to study everything from Accounting, Business and IT, through to Multimedia Studies, Hospitality Management and Creative Enterprise.
"We have a very proud history in providing top-class tertiary education to students from all across the world, and this new Brisbane Campus is proof that we are committed to building even further on this solid foundation well into the future. We are delighted that the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, The Hon Chris Bowen, could join with us in celebrating this important milestone for CQUniversity."
The new modern-standard amenities and facilities are central to Brisbane and close to rail transport, providing easy access to the campus.
This new campus contains numerous lecture rooms, computer labs, breakout areas, reading areas, meeting rooms and office space. One of the floors has more of a focus on student relaxation and gathering between classes.
This campus includes a 24-seat ISL (Interactive System-wide Learning) Theatrette, the first to be installed in any of CQUniversity's metropolitan campuses.
The boardroom has full video-conferencing facilities, and there are 11 computer laboratories, equipped with the latest audio-visual and computer equipment.
The campus has prominent street visibility
There are 15 classrooms and lecture rooms, all equipped with data projector or LCD screens, depending on size.
The campus is equipped with the latest-standard Cisco Voice-over-IP (VoIP) telephone system, which is being progressively rolled out across all Central Queensland regional campuses during 2011.
The campus also is equipped with the latest high-speed Cisco wireless network, providing comprehensive network coverage throughout the campus for staff and students. The network connection to the campus is of 'dark fibre' standard, enabling high bandwidth now, and allowing considerable capacity for expansion as the need increases.
