Koreans get taste of nursing 'Aussie style'

Eighteen second-year nursing students from Korea's Ulsan College have arrived in Rockhampton, where they will spend 3 weeks on a cultural and educational visit.

The visitors will get a chance to learn about Australian nursing practices by shadowing nurses at Rockhampton hospitals, as they go about their duties on the wards.

They will also learn about English nursing and medical terms and take part in nursing pracs in the laboratories at CQUniversity.

On weekends, they will also get a chance for sightseeing around the Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast areas.

Visit organiser Teresa Moore said the visitors were staying at Capricornia College but would welcome the chance for 'homestay' with a Rockhampton family during the final 2 weeks of their visit.

Ms Moore is an Education academic who has developed links with Ulsan College through leading cultural exchange tours for CQUniversity learning management students during the Korean winter (our summer).

The current visit is being co-hosted by nursing academic Laurel Wyte and involves a range of staff from the College of Health and Human Services.
