Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Uni to host international network and system security event 

CQUniversity is a major sponsor and host for the 3rd International Conference on Network & System Security, to be held at the Gold Coast.

Hundreds of researchers and academics from around the world are expected at the NSS 2009 event, according to CQUniversity senior lecturer Dr Yang Xiang, who is one of 3 program chairs.

Another CQUniversity academic, Dr Shawkat Ali is on the program committee.

The conference will be held from October 19-21 this year and details are at: http://nss.cqu.edu.au/ .

NSS 2009 is in technical co-sponsorship with the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Scalable Computing.

It aims to "provide a leading edge forum to foster interaction between researchers and developers with the network and system security communities, and to give attendees an opportunity to interact with experts in academia, industry and governments".
