Those attending the event included the Partners and CEO of Evans Edwards and Associates, who are all CQUniversity Alumni.

Mr Kalmanu, aged 22, says he arrived in Australia from Vanuatu only three years ago and he was proud to achieve academic success.

"I was really excited to hear of the award and my auntie and uncle who live in Rockhampton and my family back home in Vanuatu were all really pleased too," he says.

Evans Edwards and Associates Partner Marni McGrath said the Evans Edwards Award started back in 1986 "and we are proud to be a part of celebrating and recognising our region's high-achieving accounting students".

CQUniversity's Development and Alumni Relations Director Suzi Blair says industry and business funded prizes and scholarships play a major role in helping students succeed at University.

"Funding a scholarship or academic prize in a study area of interest is a great way for business or individuals to partner with the University in encouraging and recognising the hard work and potential of students," Ms Blair says.

"I'd be delighted to hear from anyone via phone on 4923 2871 who is interested in contributing to their community or industry in this way."
