Jade secures teaching position before finishing study

Gladstone’s Jade Brischke was chuffed when she secured a job with Catholic Education, even before completing her teaching studies.

Ms Brischke, who will start a new career as a school teacher at ???? this year, gained her job on the strength of her initial results in the Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching (GDLT) at Central Queensland University.

PhotoID:3772 The former Arts (Honours) graduate spent a year in Japan teaching English in 2005 and was seeking further study options when she became aware of the GDLT.

“Initially I had some reservations about the course being external, but these were quickly laid to rest when I considered the advantages,” Ms Brischke said.

“Most importantly, the course enabled me to continue living in Gladstone and I would be able to study in the comfort of my own home.

“I felt even more at ease when I made contact with the program leader, Rickie Fisher and all his wonderful staff.

“Even though the course was external, at no time did I feel isolated or at a loss as to what I needed to do”.

Ms Brischke said the GDLT was easily accessible via the Blackboard web interface and she could work through the topics at her own pace.

She said the 3 residential schools enabled her to meet other students and share her thoughts, ideas and frustrations with others.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at CQU studying the GDLT and I encourage anyone who is interested in education to investigate this course”.
