Bundaberg student prac teaching in Hong Kong

CQU Bundaberg Bachelor of Learning Management student Kirsti Campbell is prac teaching (on a portal task experience) at Discovery Bay International School in Hong Kong.

PhotoID:2046 BLM lecturer and placement supervisor John Hunt said the placement had been surprisingly easy to organise, with the help of phone calls and emails.

He said this was the first overseas placement from the campus BLM cohort.

Ms Campbell grew up in international schools, spending her early years at the Saudi Arabian International School in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Her parents now live and work for Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong, just a few blocks from the school.

Ms Campbell is placed in a P2 class (year 2 of the English national curriculum ages 6-7), where she is mentored by the class teacher.

Mr Hunt said she was already undergoing a rich range of experiences. He said she was being supported from Bundaberg with the help of email and teleconferencing.

"The feedback received so far indicates that Kirsti is well organised and showing independence. Discovery Bay has expressed an interest in hosting students in the future," he said.

"This is great feedback in terms of what we are trying to achieve in the BLM.".
